For solo and very small service businesses in Australia

What don’t you know you should be checking?

You can’t search for a question you don’t know to ask. The Blind Spot Check is an independent, personalised review that goes looking for those questions on your behalf, then explains what it found in plain English.

The problem

The gaps you can’t see are the ones that cost you.

Running a business on your own, or with a very small team, means you are the owner, the administrator, the marketer and the person who answers the phone. Nobody hands you a list of everything you are meant to know.

Search engines are brilliant at answering questions. They are far less helpful when you don’t know the question exists. You can’t look up an obligation you’ve never heard of, or a gap in your cover you’ve never thought to test.

That is a blind spot. It isn’t carelessness. It is simply what sits outside the edge of what you already know.

You cannot search for a question you do not know to ask.

Examples

Six questions many owners have never asked.

These are illustrations of the kind of question a Blind Spot Check goes looking for. The answer to each depends on your business, which is why the report is personalised.

  1. Does my business need to be registered for GST yet, and how would I know?
  2. Do I need a privacy policy, and does what I collect from clients change that?
  3. Does my insurance actually cover the work I do, or only the work I assumed it did?
  4. Is the person I pay to help me a contractor or an employee, and does that change what I owe?
  5. Am I allowed to trade under this name, and is it registered the way it needs to be?
  6. Do the promises on my website or quotes sit comfortably with Australian consumer law?

Examples only. They are not a diagnosis of your business and not advice.

What we check

Six areas of everyday business life.

We compare what you tell us, and what is publicly visible about your business, against official Australian guidance. Where something looks worth a closer look, we say so and point you to the right source.

Registrations and structure

ABN, business name, GST status and whether your set-up still suits the way you now work.

Tax and payroll basics

Common obligations around GST, reporting, superannuation and paying people who help you.

Insurance and risk

Whether the cover you hold appears to match the services you actually deliver.

Contracts and client terms

Quotes, terms and agreements, and where they may leave you or your client exposed.

Privacy and client information

What you collect, where it lives, and what you may need to tell people about it.

Public claims and online presence

What your website, listings and advertising say about you, and whether they hold up.

The exact checks vary with your industry and the information you provide.

What you receive

A written report about your business, not a generic guide.

Everything in it is based on your answers and what we could verify. Nothing is padded out with filler you could find on the first page of a search.

  • A short summary of where your blind spots are most likely to be.
  • Findings in priority order, so you know what to look at first.
  • Plain-English explanations of why each item matters to a business like yours.
  • Questions to take to a professional, such as an accountant, insurer or solicitor, so that time with them is well spent.
  • Links to official sources so you can read the original guidance yourself.

Our independence promise

Nobody pays to be in your report.

The only way this service earns money is from the fee you pay for it. That keeps the advice pointed at you.

  • No paid rankings. No provider can buy a place in a report.
  • No affiliate links in the founding version. If we point you somewhere, we earn nothing from it.
  • If this ever changes, it will be disclosed clearly and will not apply to your report retrospectively.

How it works

Four steps, and most of the effort is ours.

  1. Purchase

Pay the founding price of $99 including GST using the secure payment link.

  2. Short questionnaire

Tell us about your business using a short intake form. It opens after you pay.

  3. Checks completed

We work through the checks against your answers and official Australian sources.

  4. Personalised report

Your report is delivered within three business days.

The three business days run from when we receive your completed questionnaire.

Frequently asked questions

Before you buy.

Who is this for?

Sole traders, freelancers, consultants, tradespeople and other very small service businesses in Australia, especially if you have never had anyone systematically look over how you operate.

Is this legal, tax or financial advice?

No. It is general information and a prompt for better questions. It is not legal, tax, accounting, insurance or financial advice, and it does not replace a registered professional. See the full scope statement at the bottom of this page.

What do I need to provide?

Answers to a short questionnaire about your business. You choose what to share, though the report can only be as specific as the information you give us.

Where do I find the questionnaire after I pay?

A link to it is shown after payment. If you can’t find it, INTAKE FORM LINK PLACEHOLDER or email us at CONTACT EMAIL PLACEHOLDER.

Will you recommend products or providers?

Not for money. There are no paid rankings and no affiliate links in the founding version. Where it helps, we may name the type of professional worth speaking to, not a business that has paid to be named.

What happens to the information I give you?

It is used to prepare your report. Please read our privacy page for how personal information is handled.

What if I’m not happy with the report?

Please contact us. Our refund and cancellation position is set out in the terms. Nothing in them limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Is “The Blind Spot Check” the permanent name?

It is the name of this service for now. The business or brand behind it may change over time. The seller named in the footer is the business you are buying from.
